Well, as most of you know, I've been in Joburg since 6 January 2008, after having given in to the wifey for her promotion. As you are aware, it was the most emotional time of my life trying to adapt to this city which is a completely different lifestyle to Cape Town. Now many people say that Cpt is laid back compared to Joburg, but I don't see it as that.
Cape Town has its own buzz that Joburg cannot compare to. Yes, Joburg may have lots of money, but it does not necessarily mean that there's no money in Cape Town. People need to understand the different aspects of life that they are accustomed to and not to judge others because it doesn't match theirs.
I failed in this regard when moving here. I judged Joburg.
I judged Joburg the minute I stepped onto the plane. I was and still am very patriotic about Cape Town, but I have come to accept and Joburg and tried my best to understand this city and its inhabitants. It has been a very tedious expedition into the minds of Joburgers and I still have a long way to go to fully understand them. Hence the reason I did not host a Kandikru produced party in ages.
On the broadcasting side of thing, I have since been with Radio Today co-hosting the morning drive show with Lucas Linda, of which I shall not comment any further than that.
Silverstar casino has also seen me doing regular MCing at various events and shows from early 2008 through to 2009 and now I have come to embrace the concept of retail radio, which is a completely new frontier for me.
I can say this much, its very, very, very different to commercial and community radio. So if you ever want to go into radio, I suggest you start with retail, then move to community and progress to commercial radio, not like me who went completely the opposite way.
Good news is that I may joining a very popular urban adult radio soon, so that could be my big break. Well hopefully.
Wish me luck on that one.
Anyway, I promise to update this blog more frequently as time goes by, even if its just personal things.
